Current wild monkey population (grey macaque monkeys) in HK is over 2000, with an annual growth rate of 6%. The large proportion of monkeys have been known to be a great nuisance to residents. They are heavily reliant on humans (for food), and there are many cases of homes being invaded, or humans being attacked. Earlier this year, the AFCD started a spay/neuter programme, with an aim to reach a negative annual growth rate by 2020. Last month, monkeys were being hunted and killed in a trade (possibly supplying restaurants in China with monkey meat). I would like to talk about the monkey population problem, the current situtation, how it arised et, and relate it to the recent killings.

Possible interviewees: veterinarians involved in the neuter program, hikers at KS country park etc

The Intangible Cultural Heritage Advisory Committee will spend 1 and a half year to research and
compile a list of Intangible Cultural Heritage, herbal tea is one of the item that may appear on the list,

Shek Yuk Fung - http://jmscfung.wordpress.com/ - University Hall, The University of Hong Kong

- I will examine this building, a declared monument, as a re-vitalization product and its signifiance and meaning behind or implications towards comtemporary re-vitalization scheme
- I will see how the current residents think of this building and if there is any tradition and cultural meanings remain, or be maintained

My ideas - John Lok
- History of Snake Soup in Hong Kong: Where it came from, it's traditions, cool people they have served. Several places in hong kong.
- This is an original idea. How I could approach this is the history of it, it's origins and how it's made. Since they do not really show how it's made I will have to ask them to show me (behind the scenes?).
- Most of these places are very old maybe 30-40 years hold and have passed down through a generation. I will also be showing graphic pictures of snakes diced if possible.
- Angle: How it is made
- Angle: People's reaction towards eating unconventional animals

Liu Zhaoxin - Final project outline:
The largest challenge facing Hong Kong new immigrants
– Mainland graduates in front of financial tsunami
Objects: mainland students who graduated from Hong Kong universities and found jobs in Hong Kong
· It began as a boom of mainland students coming to Hong Kong for undergraduate study around 5 years ago. Many of those students began working in Hong Kong after graduating.
· A large number of them are in the financial or financial-related sectors, especially in accounting firms and banks.
· They just started their first job in the life and suddenly financial tsunami came and forced them to face potential or ‘already’ problem of unemployment and economic downturn. For many of them, this is the first time they truly face a crisis.
· How is their situation right now?
· Do they have any plan? Will it change their original plan? Different from most locals in the crisis, they are alone in Hong Kong and they have the choice to go back to mainland where is less impacted by tsunami.
· Record the how 80’s generation would react in their first and the largest crisis in their life in this city.
Interview: Mainland graduates and some mentor or adviser
· ZZ. Graduated from HKU e&f in 2008. Worked in KPMG auditing and would begin low-paid leave from April.
· FXC. Graduated from HKBU in 2008. Now working at PwC.
· ZYT. Graduated from CUHK in 2008. A European investment bank, Sales department. Told to find a new job in two-month time. …
· Mentor? Who can give some advise.
Media: audio, photos, soundslide?
Alternatives: focused on the first-year graduates who started their first job for no more than 10 months and began facing the possibility of unemployment.

Final Project Outline-Tsang Sze Man, Vien

Topic: Wet Markets in Hong Kong
Wet markets have been an important part of Hong Kong people’s daily life. I hope to start the investigation on them from two angles: vendors and customers:

Vendors: How do they view the prospects of their businesses? What difficulties do they face? Are they satisfied with the government’s arrangements on wet markets? How do they face the rising competition with supermarkets? Do they consider themselves holding any edge?
- Interview will be done with a fish vendor (audio)
-Pictures of the markets’ condition would also be shown

Customers: How do they perceive these wet markets? Who prefer them and who don’t? For what reasons? What should be improved on the wet markets (like the condition inside)? What do they feel happy or unhappy with them?
-Interviews with them will also be done
